ASTROLOGY FOR ACTIVE REFLECTION

The best way I know to deepen understanding and usefulness of astrology is through regular engagement, active reflection and collective sharing. Through out the past two years I’ve found myself pleasantly surprised that community has formed in Zoom land and the collective processing and reflection is such an essential part of finding the beauty and resonance that astrology has to offer as we navigate these uncertain times. Returning to the same astro learning and sharing space also allows for deepening understanding of the various signs and planets, cultivating acceptance and compassion for all the ways that these energies manifest in ourselves and our loved ones. This space is also a zone to let the clock and calendar fall away and tune into very different pace and quality of time. It can be soothing and help build resilience in these heartbreaking and fast paced times.

SO! I’ve been working hard to wrangle my Pisces Sagittarius nature and give my astrology work some structure and rhythm! Even though I have no planets in Aquarius, I’ve taken full advantage of Saturn moving through this sign in my house of creativity since 2020 and stepping up my Saturn game. Structure, responsibility and building strong foundations! This has led me to establishing a Community Supported Astrology, inspired by the veggie CSA that is quite popular where I live on unceded Duwamish territory, aka Seattle, WA. Folks are invited to purchase a full season of astrology goodies. The focus is on active self reflection, aligning with astrological time, and deepening relation with this ancient system. I am primarily a teacher, so there are lots of different workshops through out the season, art by a local Seattle artist Gabriela Ayala (of gabaluna.com) to keep you inspired and tuned into your own reflections and intentions, astro writing and a rad community of other astrology loverzzzz.

Active Reflection is not just thinking during your morning walk. It is a very intentional act to ask yourself objective questions and give yourself time to answer them. One can access deeper parts of oneself beyond the first, second or even third levels of reactivity or conditioned responses. There are many ways to do this of course, and this is one way we can reach our highest potential, our dreams and aspirations, and consciously participate in the never ending process of transformation and change that is the passage of time and life. I believe doing this reflection work collectively also builds resilience for ourselves and our collective. That is my goal.

For the past two years, I have been under a very slow once in a lifetime transit. Neptune has been crossing my chart ruler, Venus. It has been incredibly illuminating and challenging. No evolution of this magnitude comes without some sorrow, loss and difficulty. I actively asked myself how I idealized my relationships. I actively investigated acceptance and avoidance. I opened myself up consciously to more ceremony and contact with the spirit world. Neptune guided me and I’m so grateful I had this awareness to get me through one of the most transformational periods of my adult life so far.
